Jason Franzen

My name is Jason Franzen. I am 44 years old, and live in Delano MN, which is 20 miles west of Minneapolis, MN. I have lived here most of my life with my Polish wife Anna who is from Warsaw. We have 2 children Zofia 2, and Filip 7. I work at United Insurance Group as a Fraud Analyst. My background and education is Secondary History teaching.

I have been doing volunteer work in the Polish community of the Twin Cities for 14 years. I have been a member of PACIM for many years, and was its Vice President in the past. They sponsor the FESTIVAL OF NATIONS which I have attended as an exhibitor at the Cultural booth for more than 10 years. My wife and I jointly own the only Polish English newspaper in the Midwest, the KURIER POLSKI OF MINNESOTA for the last 7 years. I am the Editor, and my wife is the Publisher. I often write article for it with some 20 articles to my credit, some of which have been published in 2 editions of the KALENDARZ EMIGRANTA POLSKIEGO which is a collections of the year’s best writings of Polonia.

I am a regular presenter and speaker on the Polish community’s behalf in the Midwest. I am, a national delegate, and representative of ACPC at the NCSS (National Council of Social Studies) conventions for 3 years, speaking to Social Studies teachers about the importance of Polish people to American, and World History. I am their “go to guy” for Polish History at these conventions. I have done extensive consulting work with the Polish government for their National Archives or by its Polish designation IPN with its educational department working on 4 historical educational games, and will be starting a 5th soon. I was on the board of the Polish Saturday School PSS, and have been a regular volunteer with them for years.

I am currently a board member for a new Polish school in the Twin Cities called POLESOM. I was elected this fall for a 4 year term on the City Council of Delano, Minnesota a city of Polish and German descent just west of Minneapolis with a population of 7,000.
