Architect, lecturer and author. Born in London, Sept. 23, 1875. Expert in English, furniture and woodwork. Specialized in restoration of historical buildings. Furniture expert for the Metropolitan Asylum Board, 1899-1922. Author of: "English Furniture of 18th Century" (3 vols.); "English Furniture and Woodwork" (2 vols.); "Chinese Furniture"; "The Old World House" (2 vols.); "A Lecturer in America"; "The Hand Book of English and American Furniture"; "The Gentle Art of Faking Furniture." Lectured on the subject of English and American Furniture in Metropolitan Museum, N. Y.; N. Y. University; Memorial Hall, Phila.; The Art Institute, Chicago, Ill.; Worcester Museum of Art, Worcester, Mass.; Vassar College.
