Chester, Eleanor Gertrude
Teacher. Born in Chicago, Ill., February 21, 1919; daughter of Anthony Chester and Victoria Gerlich. Attended St. Helen's school and Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. Received B.A. degree from DePaul University in 1941 and M.A. degree from same University in 1943. Teacher of 7th grade, 1941-43; Supervisor of Music 1942-43; Director of St. Mark's Glee Club 1942-43; Organist at St. Mark's Church. Teacher of piano and voice. Studying voice with Blanche Barbot. Studying art and expects soon to exhibit her work. Played flute in the college of DePaul University. Appeared in musical programs on stage--gave two song recitals; appeared as soloist with symphony orchestra. Organizer and charter member of Delta Pi Mu music sorority. Editor of High School and College newspaper. Dramatic director for many local organizations. Member of Illinois Education Association, Pi Gamma Mu--national honor society, Delta Epsilon Sigma--Catholic honor society. Residence: 851 N. Leavitt Street, Chicago, Ill.
