Chucka, Joseph Anthony
Professor of agriculture. Born in Beaver, Wis., Mar. 9, 1902; son of Michael and Paulina (Zevaski) Chucka. Studied a Marinette, Wis.; Stevenson Training School, 1918-1921. High School, 1922-1923; B.S. University of Wis., 1927; M.S., 1928; Ph.D. University of Wisconsin, 1930. Married Agnes Florence Schernecker of Madison, Wis., June 23, 1930. Children: Donald, George, Mary Jean, Robert Joseph, Joseph Francis. Engaged as associate agronomist Agr. Expt. Sta., Univ. of Maine, 1930-1931, in charge of plant breeding and nutrition, 1931-1934; head of dept. of agronomy and Coll., of Agr. and asso. agronomist in charge of plant breeding and nutrition Me. Agr. Sta., Univ. of Me., Orono, Me., since 1934. Member: Am. Soc. of Agronomy, Potato Ass'n of America, Alpha Zeta, Phi Lambda Upsilon, Delta Theta Sigma, Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, Delta Theta Sigma, Roman Catholic.
