Coveleski (Kowalewski), Stanislaus
Baseball player, pitcher. Born in Shamokin, Pa. Professional baseball player, 1907-1919; Coveleski of the Cleveland Indians was the greatest hurler of Polish extraction since baseball originated. By winning three games during the Brooklyn-Cleveland World Series, he was placed in the class with the great Christy Mathewson. He is the owner of a tavern in Shamokin, Pa.

Coveleski, (Kowalewski) Stanley
hurled 214 victories in the American League, primarily with the Cleveland Indians. He won three games in the 1920 World Series as the Indians defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers.
