Cumiskey, Frank
Gymnast. The only gymnast in America who dares to attempt the double flyaway from a giant swingoff horizontal bar. Since he began his gymnastic career on the West New York High School team, West New York, N. J., he won many titles. He won four individual titles and aided his team in taking down top honors in 1930. The following year he annexed the junior all-around championship in the New York Metropolitan district. The same year, he entered the first National all-around competition and finished third. In 1932, he won the National side-horse title, and won an all-around berth on the United States Olympic team at the age of 19. He was placed fourth in the side-horse competition and eleventh in the all-round event. At Baltimore, in 1934, he took down the all-round crown and also the horizontal bar championship. He captured the Metropolitan all-round laurels in 1935, and finished second in the National all-round championship the same year. He was placed first on the United States team in the Olympic Games at Berlin. He retained the national horizontal bar championship in 1934-35-36. Member of Union City Athletic Club.
