Cytacki, Walter
Industrialist. Civic leader. Born May 28, 1884, in Leonow-Duninow, Poland; son of Anthony and Catherine (Pffefenhousen) Cytacki. Secondary education in Poland. Came to U.S. on November 17, 1902, settling in St. Louis, Mo., where he worked as a mechanic at Wagner Electric Co., for 13 years. In 1916 came to Hamtramck, Mich., where he settled and lives till present time. Here in Russell Axel Co., he received the position of a general supervisor. In 1918 elected member of the Board of Education of the City of Hamtramck, Mich. and held that office for 13 years. In 1922 appointed Public Works Commissioner of the City of Hamtramck. In 1933 Police Commissioner and Commissioner of Fire Department of the City of Hamtramck. Member of Polish National Alliance, he held different offices in said organization; delegate to several National Conventions, at the Philadelphia Convention, elected vice-censor and held that office for seven years. Former secretary of the School Board of Alliance College, Cambridge Springs, Pa. Active in Civic affairs. Married Julie Jankowska, Jan. 10, 1905 in St. Louis, Mo. Children: Stanislaus, Alfred and Georgina.
