Born Feb. 4, 1950, Warsaw, Poland; came to U.S., 1989; son of Jozef and Danuta (Ziemba).

Education: Master of Arts (M.A.), University of Warsaw, 1972, and State Higher School of Theater, Warsaw, 1978.

Career: theater critic. Teatr (weekly), and Scena (monthly), 1972-78; stage director, several theaters of drama, Katowice, Lodz, Wroclaw, Zielona Gora, Warsaw, 1978-87; reporter, Tygodnik Wojenny, Tygodnik Solidarnosc and Przeglad Wiadomosci Agencyjnych (underground periodicals), 1981-89; editor, essayist, Nowy Dziennik - Polish Daily News, New York City, 1992 -.

Author: theatrical plays director i.a.: Moliere, Swietoszek, Skapiec, C. Goldoni, Sluga dwoch panow. Wachlarz, Awantura w Chioggi, S. Grochowiak, Chlopcy, S. Mrozek, Emigranci, N. Gogol, Ozenek; numerous articles on contemporary Polish theater.

Member of: International Theatrical Institute, Polish sectiuon; Polish Artists Union - ZASP; Polish Workers Independent Trade Union - "Solidarnosc".

Honors: Best Teacher award. Polish Ministry of Culture, 1988; Best Reporter award. Polish Workers Independent Trade Union - Solidarnosc, 1989.
