Obituary - (English version)
On July 29, 2005 the dear departed Ryszard Habdank Kolaczkowski, Major of the artillery and pilot, left for his final assignment.
A participant of the September 1939 campaign, taken into Soviet captivity, he escaped through Hungary, and France reaching England. Seconded from the Polish Armed Forces to the Royal Artillery, became a colonel in the light artillery schools in Nigeria and India. From 1943 he was assigned to the 2nd Corps. After finishing pilot training, was assigned to Division 663 Artillery Spotters. From 153 worked for Radio Free Europe, first in Munich, then in the Polish section in Lisbon. After returning to Munich worked in the research and analysis division, and became the chief editor in Polish Press Review.
After retiring in 1984 he moved to California. There he became actively involved in the Polish American Congress (PAC), the Polish Veterans' Association (PSK) Circle No. 49, and the Polish Literary-dramatic Circle. For years he was the Press Director for the Polish American Congress - Northern California; active in matters connected to Polish interests, especially efforts by the PAC to have Poland accepted into NATO. Among his many decorations he received in 1997 from Poland's President the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit.
A requiem mass was celebrated Ryszard on Wednesday, August 3, at 2 pm at the Church of St. Ignatius at San Francisco University, Fulton and Parker Avenues. After the mass, a reception at the San Francisco Polish Home at 3040 22nd Street. Long live his memory!

Swietej Pamieci Ryszard Habdank Kolaczkowski, Major Artylerii, pilot
Uczestnik kampanii wrzesniowej, wziety do niewoli sowieckiej ucieka, Przez Wegry, Francje dostaje sie do Anglii. Oddelegowany przez Polskie Sily Zbrojne do Royal Artillery, jako porucznik szkoli artylerzystow lekkich w Nigerii i Indiach. Od 1943 w 2 Korpusie. Po ukonczeniu szkoly pilotazu w Diwizjonie 663 Samolotow Artylerii. Od roku 1952 pracuje w Radiu Wolna Europa najpierw Monachium, pozniej zostaje Szefem Sekcji Polskiej w Lizbonie. Po powrocie do Monachium pracuje w dziale badan i analiz, zostaje redaktorem naczelnym Przegladu Prasy Polskiej.
Po przejsciu na emeryture w 1984 roku przeprowadza sie do Kalifornii. Dziala aktywnie w Kongresie Polonii Amerykanskiej, Stowarzyszeniu Polskch Kombatantow Kolo 49 i Polskim Kole Literacko - Dramatycznym. Przez lata spolecznie pracuje jako Dyrektor Prasowy KPA Odd. na Pln. Kalifornie, prowadzi Polska Godzine Kulturalna. Jako wiceprzewodniczacy Komisji Politycznej KPA pracuje w tzw. grupie nacisku monitorujac senatorow i kongresmenow amerykanskiej w Pln. Kalifornii w kwestiach dotyczacych intersow Polski, aktywnie uczestniczy w staraniach KPA o przyjecie Polski do NATO. Wsro wielu odznaczen posiada nadany przez Prezydenta RP 1997 r. Komandorski Krzyz Zaslugi Rzeczpospolitej Polski.
Sp Ryszarda pozegnamy na Mszy sw. zalobnej ktora zostanie odprawiona w srode, 3 sierpnia o godz. 2:00 pm w kosciele St. Ignatius na Uniwersytrecie San Francisco Fulton i Parker Avenue. Po nabozenstwie od godz. 4 pm recepcja w Domu Polskim w San Francisco, 3040 22nd Street. Czesc Jego Pamieci!
