Polish American Business and Professional Club of Los Angeles

Disseminate information and counsel in business and professional matters to its members

by Ray Kulvicki

In 1932, Frank Jambor, a building contractor; Lech Niemo, attorney; Thomas Potasz, medical doctor; and Roman Rydzeski, dentist organized The Polish American Business and Professional CIub, Inc., of Los Angeles (PABP). The goal of the PABP was to disseminate information and counsel in business and professional matters to its members.

Because many of its members were directly involved in war efforts the club was inactive during the period of World War II. However, directly afterwards and through the 1970's, the organization was actively involved with the Polish-American community in Los Angeles.

Through most of the following decade, the club was dormant. However, in 1989, the club was reorganized and Denis Smokowicz elected temporary president. Later that year, the original organization disbursed its funds to charitable organizations and a new charter under the name of the Polish American Business and Professional CIub was obtained. In October, 1989, Marty Cepielik was officially elected as the first President.

The current Board of directors is composed of:

Martin Krawiec, President

Marty Cepielik, Vice President

Betsy Cepielik, Secretary

Ewa Cullum, Treasurer

The CIub meets on the second Friday of each month at the La Manda Park Library, 140 South Altadena Drive, Pasadena. Each meeting highlights an informative speaker.

The CIub also sponsors periodic dinners and works in cooperation with other Polish American organizations.
