Raszkiewicz, Rev. Urban, O.F.M.
Professor of Canon Law. Born July 27, 1824 in Szawle, Poland. Ordained Sept. 8, 1848 in Wloclawek, as member of the Franciscan Fathers. For a long time professor of canon law and theology in Laki, Poland. In 1872 persecuted by Germany, left for U.S.; on July 6, 1881 appointed pastor of St. Mary's parish, Otis, Indiana, where he served until 1909. From 1890 to 1891 organizer of St. Casimir's parish, Hammond, Ind. In 1891 appointed dean of diocese of Fort Wayne. Died February 11, 1909.
