Michael J. Baczkowski, 85, a former machinist for the City of Buffalo died July 23, 2001 at the Waters of Orchard Park following a short illness.

The Buffalo native worked for Farrell Birmingham as a machinist and Westinghouse Electric Corp. cutting gears for the first Nautilus submarine to dive beneath the North Pole. He then worked 33 years for the City of Buffalo Public Works Dept. He
was a member of Fourteen Holy Helpers Church in West Seneca, the Western New York Softball Hall of Fame and the Cheektowaga Couples Club.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Robaczynski); daughter, Karny Herko of Lancaster; sons, Michael L. of Hamburg, and Paul S. of Orchard Park; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
