Irene Banas (1921 - 2006)
Payroll Accountant, Notary PublicTerryville, CT - Irene (Markowski) Banas, 84, of Roosevelt Ave., Terryville, wife of Leo T. Banas, died Friday, March 3, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury.
Mrs. Banas was born Nov. 19, 1921 in Terryville. She was the daughter of the late Adam and Kornelia Markowski and had been a lifelong resident of Terryville. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a payroll accountant for the former Eagle Lock Co., Terryville and General Electric of Plainville, she was also associated with the Jayne Eugene Florist of Terryville and member of the GE Retirees, AARP and was a former Notary Public.
Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Leon "Tom" Banas and - his wife Paula of Bristol and Jeffery Banas of Terryville (Jeffery is a polka D.J. on WRTC and WRYM in Hartford, CT); a daughter, Sandy Dean and her husband Bud of Davenport, FL; her polka dance student, Christine Murphy of 0akville; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from the Scott Funeral Home, 69 Main Street, Terryville, to St. Casimir Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Terryville.
