Sussex, NJ - Joseph A. Barczak, of Sussex, NJ, a retired foreman with Local 17, an avid Polka dancer and Jimmy Sturr Fan, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at home. He was 76.

The son of Frank and Antoinette Giza Barczak, he was born on July 4, 1927 in Pine Island. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War; member of Pulaski Fire Company, Pine Island; member of PLAV Post 16 Pine Island; Laborers Local 17; and St. Monica's Church, Wantage, NJ.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Malko Barczak at home; two daughters, Donna Myer of Matamoras, Pa., Margaret Giza of Walden; three stepchildren, Jim. S. 0'Brien of Arizona, Jannie O'Brien Langan of Tennessee, Joseph 0'Brien of the State of Washington; three granddaughters, Lea Anne 0'Brien, Kim Rose, and Erica Lynn; four sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson of Sussex, NJ, Genevieve Koutney of Fayetteville, Tenn., Theresa Dombrowski of Newburgh, Rose Paffenroth of Vero Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Walter Barczak of Middletown, Frank Barczak of Sussex, NJ, John Barczak of Florida, NY; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Stella Myslinski and brother, Vincent Barczak.

Funeral Mass was held on Saturday May 8 at St. Monica's Church in Wantage, NJ. Burial at Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, NY. Arrangements were made by T.S. Purta Funeral Home, Pine Island, New York.
