Barzynski, Joseph E., Sr.
U.S. Army Brigadier-General. Born March 13, 1884 in St. Paul, Minn. In 1905 he graduated from U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N. Y. as Second Lieutenant, Served with 11th Infantry at Philippine Islands, 1912-15. During the World War I he served in France and Germany as quartermaster of 32nd Division. Studied at Ecole de l'Intendance in France, 1924-26. Member of General Staff of U.S. Army, Washington, D. C., 1927-1931. At Savannah Ga., in 1931 he represented U.S. Government during the 150th anniversary celebration commemorating the death of General Casimir Pulaski, hero of the Revolutionary War. Graduated from the Higher Military School Command and General Staff School, Fort Leavenworth, in 1933. Honorary member General Krzyzanowski Memorial Committee in 1937. Appointed Brigadier General of U.S. Army in 1940. Chief of Transportation Department in War Office, Washington, D. C. Director of Polish Opera Guild in Chicago, Ill.
