Biela, Rev. Joseph, Ph.D.
Professor. Born Sept. 10, 1859 in Zebrzydowice, Poland. Educated in Wadowice, Krakow, Poland, and studied in Rome. Ordained in Rome in 1887. where he received his Ph.D. degree in 1890. In 1891 appointed professor of Theological Seminary in Lwow, Poland. On May 30, 1893 came to U.S. From 1893 to 1895 Professor of Theology and Canon Law at the Theological Seminary in Berlin, Canada. From 1895 to 1900 professor at St. Stanislaus Kostka College, Chicago, Ill. In 1900 appointed pastor of Holy Family Parish, Poniatowski, Wis. Pastor of St. Hyacinth's Parish, La Salle, Ill., 1902; pastor of St. Casimir's, Mahanoy City, Pa., 1902; pastor of St. Kunegunda's, McAdoo, Pa., 1903; pastor of St. Casimir's, Shenandoah, Pa., 1904; pastor of St. Hedwig's, Chester, Pa., 1905. Went to Europe in 1907.
