Bielaski, Alexander Bruce
Lawyer. Born in Montgomery County Md., April 2, 1883. Son of Rev. Alexander (D.D.) and Roselle Israel Bielaski. Completed public and high school; received a degree of LL.B. from Columbia University in 1904. Married Amelia Dodson Benson of St. Michaels, Md., June 30, 1909. Became connected with Department of Justice, Washington, D. C., 1905; with Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice 1908-1918; had charge of investigation of German activities in U.S. during first World War. Admitted to practice before Supreme Court of U.S.; special assistant to attorney general of U.S., 1925-1926.
Member: American Bar Association, District of Columbia and New York State Bar Association; Columbian University Alumni Association; Delta Tau Delta, national president in 1919, 1921 and 1923; sec. Interfraternity Conference in 1922-1923; chairman in 19231924; President of Great Neck Assn., 1929. Republican, Methodist.
Clubs: Drug and Chemical, Delta Tan Delta (New York). In June, 1922, kidnapped held for ransom by Indian bandits in Mexico. Escaped unaided during third night.
