Blandowski, Constantine
Captain of Union Army. Born in Poland, A graduate of the military school in Dresden, Germany; served as an officer in the French Foreign Legion in Algiers; served in the Polish and Hungarian insurrections of 1848; fought with Garibaldi in Italy in 1849. Came to U.S in 1850, to St. Louis, Mo., where he was a military instructor for St. Louis Turn Verein. In the Civil War was a captain of the Third Missouri Infantry; mortally wounded during the siege of Camp Jackson near St. Louis on May 10; died on May 25, 1861 in St. Louis, Mo.
