Born Aug. 2,1903, Warsaw, Poland; came to U.S., 1919; daughter of Jacob and Regina (Berman); married Stephen Borski Szczepanowicz.

Education: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), New York University (NYU), New York City; Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Columbia University Library School, New York City.

Career: children's librarian, translator, Polish folk tales, New York Public Library, 1922-44; assistant, Slavic Section, Library of Congress, 1944-65, Washington (DC).

Author: co-translator, The Jolly Tailor, and Other Fairy Tales, 1928, The Queen of Heaven, 1929, The Gypsy and the Bear, and Other Fairy Tales, 1933; translator, J. Porazinska, In Voytus' Little House, 1944, My Village, 1944; translator, Polish Folk Tales, 1947, Good Sense, and Good Fortune, 1970; translator, J. Ficowski, Sister of the birds and Other Gypsy Tales, 1976.
