Peterson (Jackowska), Antoinette V.
Attorney-at-law. Born in Poznan, Poland, daughter of Adalbert and Pauline Neman. Education: Polish parochial and public schools; attended Milwaukee Downer College; in 1898 entered the University of Wisconsin, College of Law, at Madison, Wis. Graduated in 1901 with LL.B. degree. Admitted to practice in the state and federal courts; first Polish American woman lawyer in the United States. Married in 1900. Active in Woman's Suffrage. Appointed member of the City Service Commission, 1923. Member of the Board of Directors of the Business and Professional Woman's Club of Milwaukee. During World War I served on the Legal Advisory Board and Food Commission. Member of the Milwaukee Woman's Club, Home Service League; organizer and vice-president of the Polish American Housewives League.
