Dodie Piersielak

National Cultural Commissioner of the Polish Falcons of America

Dodie Piersielak has been a member of the Polish Falcons of America since 1949. Currently she is President of Nest 52, Rochester, New York.

Since 1992 she has been a Gold Legion of Honor member, the highest award the Polish Falcon of America give.

In 2005 Dodie Piersielak was nominated for and selected from other candidates as the Polish Falcon of America National Cultural Commissioner.

She has held the following offices in the Polish Falcons:

NEST: (local)

Gymnastic Instructress, Organizer, Vice President, President.

DISTRICT: (Erie, PA to Auburn, NY)

Gymnastic Instructress, Vice President, President.

NATIONAL:

2005 to present National Cultural Commissioner

1996 to 2000 National Director-At-Large, Chairperson of the Falconette and the Heritage and Education Committees, worked on the Legal and Membership Committees

1992 to 1996 National Director worked on the Falconette and the Heritage and Education Committees

During her years in the Falcons, she has chaired, co-chaired, attended, participated and worked at various Nest, District and National events. She organized and hosted the first PFA National Dance Conapetition. Besides being part of the dance team, she taught some of the dances and helped to make costumes.

In 1999, she organized the PFA to participate in "Make A Difference Day". Thirty Nests across the country took part. RochesterÕs Nest still continues to take part.

In 1997 - 2000 she worked on the committee to raise funds for the Pope John Paul Center in Washington, DC. One of the things she did was to show a video to Iocal organizations, as to what the center was to be and how they could help to raise money for this project.

Dodie Piersielak is also a member of Rochester's Polonia Civic Center, Polish Heritage Society of Rochester and St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.

She has been active in programs, projects and activities from 1980 to 2006 as a delegate to the Polonia Civic Center that have enormously benefitted the Rochester Polish community.

Also other accomplishments:

- Worked at fundraisers; Organized a fundraiser for Sister Barbara OrczykÕs Brazilian parish - the goal of $500.00 was met (2005);

- Organized Rochester's Polish organizations to set up a booth at the St. Stanislaus Parish festival

- Worked at several Miss Polonia Contests, was a judge at Miss Polonia Contest (2003)

- Organized Luncheon for Polish Constitution Day (1996)

- MC at the Polish Constitution Day ceremonies at Rochester City Hall (1991)

- Chaired the program book committee for the Polish Festival (1984)
