Pastor: St. Michael's Church, Port Austin, Mich., 1906-1911; St. Florian's Church, Hamtramck, Mich., 1912-1919; Sweetest Heart of Mary, Detroit, 1919-1936. Vicar Gen. Diocese of Detroit, 1924-1936. Auxiliary Bishop of Detroit, 1924-36. Bishop of Sault Ste. Marie and Marquette, 1936-1940. Bishop of Grand Rapids Diocese, Grand Rapids, Mich., 1940-43.
