Prumbs, Zygmunt
Journalist. Born in Poznan, Poland. Educated in the primary and secondary schools of Poznan. Graduate of Polish Nautical College, Tczew, Poland. Participated in the Polish underground movement in Upper Silesia in 1920. Took part in the first sea expedition of the training ship "Lwow" to Brazil, So. America (first time the Polish flag flew over the Equator) in 1923. Author of a book "Pod Polska Bandera" (Under the Polish Flag). Engaged as a special correspondent of Polish newspapers in Poland. Harbor pilot in the port of Gdynia, 1927-1930. Navigation officer of Gdynia-America Line, 1931 1933. Came to United States in 1933. Naturalized in 1941. Engaged as a writer and editor by "Nowy Swiat," a Polish daily Paper published in New York City, 1936-1941. At the outbreak of World War II joined for the duration the merchant marine.
