Przemielewski, Rev. Benedict, O.M.C., S.T.D.
Clergyman. Professor at St. Francis College, Athol Springs, N. Y. Born Dec. 20, 1888 in Matlak, Poland. Son of John and Frances (Wasielewska) Przemielewski. In 1895 came to U.S. and settled in Buffalo, N. Y.; primary education at Corpus Christi, Public School No. 57, Buffalo, N. Y.; Franciscan College, Trenton, N. J. Gregorian University, Rome, 1907-09; studied theology at International College, Rome, 1909-13, where he received S.T.D. degree; ordained Aug. 10, 1912 in Rome, Italy. Asst. at St. Stanislaus. Baltimore, Md., 1913-20. Pastor at St. Casimir's, Baltimore, Md., 1920-39. Chaplain of the Convent of the Franciscan Sisters, Hamburg, N. Y., 1939-1942. Since 1942 professor at St. Francis College, Athol Springs, N. Y. In 1930 he bought 247 acres with the buildings and built a magnificent Novitiate for the Franciscan Fathers at Ellicot City. Md. Active in social and patriotic affairs. Founded several Polish libraries and equipped them with over 8,000 books. In 1926, built St. Casimir's Church, Baltimore, Md. The City of Baltimore decorated him for that with a Golden Medal. Address: St. Francis College, Athol Springs, N.Y.
