Schreiber, Anthony
Industrialist. Born in Raciaz, Poland, Jan. 12, 1864. Graduated from the University of Berlin, Germany in chemistry. In 1881 came to U.S., settled in Buffalo, N. Y., in 1900. Established Schreiber Brewing Company, made a special kind of beer, "Manru," in honor of Paderewski's opera Manru. From 1905 to 1913 censor of the Polish National Alliance. Former treasurer and commissioner for U.S. of the Polish National Treasury in Rappersvyl, Switzerland. Founder of the Polish Daily News "Dziennik Zwiazkowy." Together with Steczynski, called Congress of Polish immigrants to Washington, D. C. in 1910. Decorated with "Polonia Restituta" by the Polish government for his national and social work. In 1936 on the occasion of golden jubilee of his membership in Polish National Alliance received a golden cane from this organization. Died Nov. 8,1938.
