Siatka, Rev. Stanislaus, C.R.
Professor. Born March 10, 1869 in Czechowka, near Zakliczyn, Poland. Son of Anthony and Agnes (Cygan) Siatka. Educated in Zakliczyn, Myslenice and Krakow. Studied philosophy and theology in Rome, where he was ordained April 4, 1896. After ordination appointed vice-rector of Polish College in Rome, Italy. Came to U.S. in 1897, to Chicago, Ill. Established and edited the Polish weekly: "Sierota" (An Orphan). Delegate to Brazil and Argentina in 1902 in connection with Polish immigration. Until 1915 assistant in several parishes. Pastor of St. John Kanty parish, Chicago, Ill., from 1915 to 1921. Transferred to St. Hedwig's parish, also in Chicago. Since 1923 pastor at St. Stanislaus parish, Chicago, Ill, and simultaneously professor of Polish at St. Mary's Theological Seminary, Mundelein, Ill. Elected director and president of Chicago Publishing Company. Died on December 22, 1923.
