Siemiradzki, Thomas
Professor, editor and writer. Born March 13, 1850 in Poland. Secondary education in Kronstadt, Russia. Graduated from the University of Petersburg (Leningrad), Russia. Was teacher of Latin and Greek in Petersburg (1 year); in Leipzig (2 years); in Dresden, Germany (2 years); in Siedlce, Poland (1 year) in Lomza, Poland (1 year); in Kalisz, Poland (2 years); and in Odessa, Russia (eleven years, from 1884 to 1895). In 1896 came to U.S. and became professor of history and ancient languages at St. Mary's College, Orchard Lake, Mich. From February 5, 1889 to Mar. 3, 1901, president of Nest 31 of Polish Falcons of America in Detroit, Mich. From 1901 to 1913 editor of "Zgoda," official organ of the Polish National Alliance of America in Chicago, Ill. In 1910 became a member of the Polish Congressional Conference, held in Washington, D.C., to plead for Poland's cause. In 1918 went to Cleveland, became editor of Polish Daily paper: "Wiadomosci Codzienne." Died March 26, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio.
