Virginia Sikora Assumes Presidency of Polish American Congress

Virginia Sikora, President of Polish Women's Alliance of America (PWA) and First Vice President of the Polish American Congress (PAC), will serve as President of the Polish American Congress, filling the vacancy in the office left by the death of Edward Moskal on March 22, 2005. Mrs. Sikora will serve as President until the next election meeting of the PAC which will be held in the fall of 2005.

Virginia Sikora has been President of Polish Women's Alliance of America since 1999, and she was elected First Vice President of the Polish American Congress in November 2004. Polish American Congress is an umbrella organization representing hundreds of Polish American organizations throughout the United States. Its national headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois, and it was founded in 1944. Polish Women's Alliance of America is a fraternal benefit society located in Park Ridge, Illinois, and founded in 1898.

Mrs. Sikora has been active in Polish American organizations in Detroit, Michigan, where she served for many years as the Treasurer of the City of Detroit, and in Chicago where she moved in 1999, after being elected President of PWA. She worked closely with Mr. Moskal on many projects and issues of importance to Polonia and she will continue to work closely with the Executive Board of the PAC and the regional offices in the coming months.
