Smiertka, Jean
Nurse. Born in Holyoke, Mass., May 13, 1914 of Polish parents. Graduated from Greenfield High School. In 1934 graduated from Pratt Institute and entered the Franklin County School of Nursing for nurses at Greenfield, Mass., from which she graduated in 1937. In 1938 was accepted into the U.S. Navy Nursing Corps. Member of the Polish Students Club. In 1939 at U.S. Naval Hospital, Chelsea, Mass.
