Sobolewski, Edward J. Frederick
Music teacher, composer. Director of Imperial Opera, Koenigsberg. Prussia, Germany. Born Oct. 1, 1808 in Kolobrzeg, Poland. Came to U.S. in 1859
and settled in Milwaukee, Wis.; was a music teacher of Christopher Bach, renowned German composer. Wrote an opera, "Mohega," 1860 (Flower of the Forest), on the theme of Revolutionary War, with General Pulaski as its hero. In 1861 he organized the first Symphonic Orchestra in Milwaukee, Wis. Died in 1872.
