Stanczyk, Stanley
Reared in a Polish neighborhood on Detroit's west side, Stanczyk won the first of six consecutive world titles in weightlifting in 1946. In the 1948 Olympics in London, he won the Gold Medal, following up with a Silver Medal in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
