Starzynski, Florian B.
Physician. Born August 21, 1902, Pittsburgh, Pa. Son of Ignatius B. and Veronica Starzynski, nee Schettler. Education: Elementary School, St. Adalbert's parochial school, Duquesne University Prep School, in 1920. Pre Medical Course at University of Pittsburgh, received bachelor of Science Degree, cum laude in 1932. Completed University of Pittsburgh Medical School with degree of M.D. in 1934. Interne at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, 1934 to 1935, passed the State of Pennsylvania License Board in 1935. Entered into military duty in 1935 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with rank of 1st Lieutenant, Medical Corps, U.S. Army, and in September, 1936 transferred to Station Hospital, Fort Bragg, N. C. Promoted to Captain, June 18, 1938, promoted to Major, February 1, 1942, and at present (1943) Commanding Officer of a 1000-bed cantonment type hospital at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Married in 1935, two children. Member of American Medical Association, American Allegheny Medical Association, Military Surgeons' Association, Phi Rho Sigma, professional medical fraternity; member of the Polish Falcons Alliance, Polish Roman Catholic Union. Former editor of the "Wheeling Pole," now defunct, and associate editor of "The Pittsburgher", Polish daily. For three years publicity director for the united Polish organizations of Pittsburgh, Pa.
