Alex Storozynski

Pulitzer-prize winning journalist, was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, to Polish immigrants. During World War II, his father, Dionizy fought in the underground against the Soviets, against the Nazis during their invasion of France and later as a motorcycle scout for an allied tank division in Normandy. His mother, Irena Krzyzanowska was sent to Nazi Germany as a slave laborer. Alex's grandfather, Wladyslaw Krzyzanowski fought at the Battle of Monte Cassino and won the Cross for Valor as a tank commander in Italy.

Alex graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 1983 and from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in 1985. He was also a post graduate fellow at the University of Warsaw.

He is working on a book about the Polish military and another on Thaddeus Kosciuszko. He is a contributing editor at the New York Sun, where he served as City Editor, and a commentator for Poland's public radio station "Jedynka."

He won his Pulitzer as a member of the New York Daily News editorial board.

Storozynski was also founding editor of the daily newspaper AMNewYork, and has written for the Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, the New York Post, New York, Newsday and other publications. His awards include the Associated Press Award for Editorial Writing, the Deadline Club Award, the Society for Professional Journalists Award, and the George Polk Award.

Alex is also the vice chair of and former chairman of the board of the Polish and Slavic Federal Credit Union, the largest ethnic credit union in America, with more than $1 billion in assets.
