Strenski, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Arthur B.
Roman Catholic clergyman. Born in Wojsk, Pomerania, Poland, October 6, 1880. Received his elementary education in Europe. Came to U.S. at the age of eleven. His parents settled in New York, N.Y., where he attended school. Completed philosophical and theological course at St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore, Md. Ordained to priesthood by Cardinal Gibbons in 1905. Incardinated in the diocese of Trenton immediately after ordination. First assignment as assistant pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, South Amboy, N.J. Later assigned as curate to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Sayreville, N.J.; St. Peter's Church, New Brunswick, N.J., where he organized a Polish parish. Transferred as assistant pastor to St. James Church, Jamesburg, N.J., and while here helped organize a Polish parish in Helmetta, N.J. During five years he ministered to the needs of Polish Catholics grouped in numerous mission churches from which later were organized Polish parishes. In 1910 was appointed pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, So. Amboy, N.J. In 1925 transferred as pastor to St. Hedwig's Church, Trenton, N.J. Elevated by the Holy See to Domestic Prelate in 1926 and appointed Diocesan Consultor in Trenton Diocese. In 1934 appointed pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Camden, N.J. When the Holy See created a new diocese at Camden, N.J. was appointed Diocesan Consultor of the Camden Diocese. Founded St. Vincent de Paul Society in Camden, N.J. Decorated by the Polish Government with "Polonia Restituta" cross. Appointed member of War Labor Board in 1943. Residence: 872 Brunswick Ave., Camden, N. J.
