Strzemienski, Casimir
Plant biochemist, professor. Born in Cracow, Poland, March 29, 1896. In 1927 Jagiellonian University in Cracow granted him a degree of Doctor of Agriculture Sciences. Senior Assistant in Horticulture (1924), Associate Professor in Horticulture (1927), and from 1932 lecturer and substitute Professor of Horticulture and Agriculture at the Jagiellonian University, Cracow. Undertook special studies in his chosen field at Florence, Italy (1938) and in the Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture, St. Augustine, Trinidad, British West Indies (1939). At the start of the II World War he was in Venezuela, where he was studying the feasibility of settling Polish emigrants in that country. Now (1943) in the U.S. because of the war. During 1940-41 engaged as a research associate in Plant Biochemistry at the University of New Hampshire. Durham, N.H. For the school year 1941-42 appointed a research associate by the University of Wisconsin. Corresponding member of Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America.
