Swietlik, Francis Xavier
Attorney-at-law. Educator. Born Nov. 24, 1899 in Milwaukee, Wis. Graduated from Marquette University, 1910, with B.A. degree, and 1911 with M.A. degree. Completed law studies at Marquette University. In 1914 admitted to the Bar in Milwaukee, Wis. In 1930 appointed a member of the faculty of Marquette University, where he taught criminal law. In 1934 appointed dean of the Law School of Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., which position he holds until present time (1943). A former assistant district attorney; World War I veteran, discharged with captain's rank; elected censor of the Polish National Alliance of America in 1931 at the National Convention held in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; re-elected in 1935 and in 1939. President of the Polish American Council, chosen in 1939 and re-elected in 1941 and 1942. Awarded a Cross of Merit by the Government of Portugal for his humanitarian work. Creighton University bestowed upon him honorary degree of Doctor of Laws in 1941. Married. Address: 735 North Water Street, Milwaukee, Wis.
