Swinarski, Most Rev. Valentine
Bishop-nominate of Plock, Poland. Born 1832 in Warsaw, Poland, where he received complete education. Ordained March 4, 1855 in Warsaw, became assistant pastor in Lowicz, later teacher of religion in Leczyca, pastor for 17 years in Nieborow, and pastor of Lowicz; Rector of the Theological Seminary in Warsaw, where he became pastor of All Saints parish. Nominated bishop, but his nomination was refused by the Russian Government. In 1889 left for U.S. From 1889 to 1891 pastor of Mill Creek, Pa. Built Holy Cross chapel in Trenton, N. J., where he was pastor from 1891 to 1896. Chaplain of the Polish Orphanage in Cheektowaga, N. Y. Died on December 29, 1913 in Buffalo, N.Y.
