Szweda, Francis
Social worker. Born May 4, 1875. The daughter of Cajetan Kownacki, and Emily Janurowski in Konstancjow, Poland. In 1888 came to U.S. to Wilkes Barre, Pa., later settled in Philadelphia. On July 4, married Stanley Szweda; member of St. Adalbert's parish, Polish National Alliance, St. John Kanty Ass'n, Women's Alliance of America, Women's Union in Philadelphia. Founded a fraternal organization in 1920, The Women's Union in Philadelphia. Decorated by Poland with golden cross of merit in 1939. Died on May 22, 1940.
