General Casimir Pulaski Statue
This is a heroic bronze statue of Pulaski, executed by Sidney Waugh and funded by retired US Army General William F. Reilly. It depicts Pulaski with a rather large saber and was placed on the west side of Philadelphia's Art Museum in 1947.At Pulaski's feet is the stump of the "Tree of Liberty" symbolic of Poland's loss of freedom in the partitions that eventually ended Poland's existence as a county in 1795. Yet, from this stump a new branch springs with new leaves -- the American experiment of a United States.
