Drezmal, Max A.
Attorney-at-law; literary translator; writer. Born Oct. 2, 1867, Poznan, Poland. In 1868 came with parents to Chicago, Ill., where he has resided ever since. Education: Polish parochial and public schools; graduated from Northwestern University, Law School, June 11, 1889, with high honors. From July 6, 1894 to August 26, 1896, member of the Chicago Board of Education. He rendered effective service as a Chairman of Judiciary and Manual Training Committees; also as member of Music and Compulsory Education Committees. He translated into English the last two novels of
Henry Sienkiewicz: "Whirlpool" (Wiry ) and "In Desert and Wilderness" (W Pustyni i Puszczy"), Boston, 1910. He wrote: The Polish Constitution of May 3rd, 1791, its causes and effects upon European politics. President for 6 years of the Polish Arts Club of Chicago. Member of the Illinois State Board of Pardons and Paroles. Member of P.N.A., Polish Falcons, Chicago Art Institute, Field Museum, Illinois and American Bar Ass'n. Polish Government awarded him an order of "Polonia Restituita." Address: 1200 N. Ashland, Chicago, Ill.
