chemistBorn in Warsaw, Poland, May 27, 1887. Attended high school in Warsaw. Studied in the Universities of Leipzig, Heidelberg, Zurich, Manchester. In 1909 University of Heidelberg granted him Doctor of Philosophy degree. Professor and director of Chemical-Physical Institute, University of Munich, 1917-35; lectured on physical chemistry in the universities of Poland, Austria, England, Holland, Denmark, Canada, Sweden and Switzerland. Since 1935 professor of chemistry at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich. Author of many technical books on chemistry. Member of numerous professional societies in U. S. and Poland.
