Folkierski, Ladislaus
Engineer-mathematician. Born in 1841 in Poland. Graduated from University in Karlsruhe, Polytechnic School; in 1863 took part as an officer in Polish insurrection against Russia; left for Paris for further studies. In 1873 the Government of Peru, South America, engaged him as a constructor of the Peruvian Railroads and public works. Fortified Lima, the capital of Peru, and Port Calao during the war between Peru and Chile. In 1886 engaged as professor of the University in Lima, Peru. In 1888 founded department of mathematics and physics at that university. Appointed dean of these departments and a professor of mathematics.
