Frania, Rev. Joseph J., LL.D., Ph.D., P.P.
Born March 15, 1880 in Smianowice, Poland, son of John and Martha (Folcik) Frania. Received secondary education in Miejsce Piastowe, Poland. Studied Theology in Rome, Italy, and at St. Vincent's Seminary, Latrobe, Pa., where he was ordained on July 4, 1907. From 1908 to 1911 assistant pastor of St. Adalbert's Parish, Pittsburgh, Pa. From 1911 to 1935 pastor of St. John Parish in Latrobe, Pa. For his splendid work in Latrobe, Pa. St. Vincent Seminary, Latrobe, Pa. bestowed upon him Ph.D. degree, honoris causa. On Dec. 3, 1935, pastor of St. Adalbert's Parish in Pittsburgh, Pa., and on January 8, 1936 nominated diocesan consultor. Died April 13, 1939. Member of many societies, honorary president of Polish Priests Association of the Pittsburgh diocese. His body was taken to Katowice, Poland.
