Gasiorowski, VenceslausEdItor and author. Born June 27, 1869. Educated in Poland and France. Began as a druggist in Warsaw. Tn 1900 he settled in Paris, France, where he was a librarian and devoted himself to writing on the Napoleonic Era. Wrote: "Pani Walewska," "Huragan," "Rok 1806 Szwolezerowie Gwardii," "Czarny General," "Kapitan Steward," and books dealing with life at that time. In two books, "Zlota Kolchida" and "Ach te Chamy w Ameryce" he gave critical pictures of the Poles in U.S. In 1914 he was president of the "Sokol" and "Polonia" in France. Took an active part in organizing the Polish Army of World War I. In the battles of Champagne and La Torgette. Came to U.S. in 1917 to recruit men for the Polish Army. He remained here for a few years. Edited the "Gornik" in Wilkes Barre, Pa., "Gwiazda PoIarna" in Stevens Point, Wis., and "Kurier Nowoyorski." Was dean of Alliance College. Cambridge Springs, Pa., whence he left for Poland. He wrote two volumes on the formation of a Polish Army in France. He organized and was president of an "Aliance of Emigrating Writers and Publishers." Died in Milanowek near Warsaw in 1940.
