Gielgud, John
Actor. Born in England; grandson of Anthony Gielgud, who was General of the Polish army during the Polish insurrection in 1831. Anthony, a political refugee, settled in England. In 1836 John Gielgud came to U.S.; played leading character roles at Fanton Crown; considered one of the best Shakespearean character actors. Deceased.
