Glinowski (Glenn), Joseph C.
Sportsman, ballplayer. Born in Dickson City, Pa., November 19, 1908. As a youth worked in coal mines near Scranton, Pa. While attending high school showed his proficiency as a baseball player. This special aptitude was noticed by Mike O'Neill who advised his brother, the manager of Buffalo Bison, to hire young Joe as a professional player. He began his baseball career with a Syracuse team in 1928; played on Hazleton, Jersey City and Albany teams; in 1932 played on the Springfield, Mass. team, establishing a record as a hitter; was connected with the New York Yanks for 5 years; is now connected with the St. Louis Browns team in the American League as a catcher.
