Gmernicki, Nicholas A.
Journalist. Born in Poland, Sept. 11, 1888. Completed a gymnasium (secondary school) in Lwow, Poland. Studied law in Vienna, Austria. Came to United States in 1913 and immediately began his journalistic career in America. During the World War I he was one of the leading organizers of the Polish Defense Committee (K.O.N.). He was on the editorial staff of numerous Polish weeklies and dailies, namely: "Robotnik Polski" (Polish Worker), published in New York City; "Dziennik Polski" (Polish Daily News), published in Detroit, Mich.: "Dziennik dla Wszystkich" (Everybody's Daily), published in Buffalo, N. Y. and also "Wolnosc" (Liberty), a weekly published in Chicago. He was secretary of American League for Liberation of Poland. Died in February, 1943.From: "Who's Who in Polish America" by Rev.
