Western Massachusetts Grammy Nominee Lenny Gomulka Kicks Off An Official State Polka
MASSACHUSETTS - The state already has an official song, an official folk song, and an official patriotic tune. Now some may say it needs an official polka. Western Mass. songwriter/musician Lenny Gomulka produced the song, "Say Hello To Someone In Massachusetts" which has been proclaimed to be the Official state polka of Massachusetts. State Rep. Paul E. Caron announced that plans are being made to bring the Grammy-Nominated Lenny Gomulka & Chicago Push to Beacon Hill to perform before the legislative committee. Gomulka, a Chicago native, has lived in Springfield, MA for eight years says he takes a lot of pride living in his adopted state and is delighted at Mr. Caron's legislation. It is possible that Gomulka could be the second western Massachusetts song-writer to get an official state song. Arlo Guthrie's "Massachusetts" is the state's official folk song. "All Hail Massachusetts" is the states official song while "Massachusetts, Because Of You Our Land Is Free" is the official patriotic air.
Gomulka's song "Say Hello To Someone in Massachusetts" has also rated in the top 10 songs of the '97 year in the critics poll by in Billboard Magazine (year end issue '97).
Lenny Gomulka and his band The Chicago Push have captured 8 Grammy nominations since they originated in 1980.
