primary, Koenigsdorf; secondary, Seminary of SS. Cyril and Methodius, Detroit, Mich.; theology, St. Francis Seminary, St. Francis, Wis. Came to the United States in 1889; ordained June, 1899; professor of Polish, German, French, Greek and Latin in 1899-1906; professor of homiletics and philosophy at St. Francis Seminary, St. Francis, Wis., 1906-1908; president and treasurer of the daily newspaper "Nowiny Polskie," Milwaukee, Wis.; rector of the church of St. Vincent de Paul, 1908-1909. Diocesan consultor, 1912 to date; member of the School Board, and director of St. Michael's Priest Fund, archdiocese of Milwaukee; spiritual adviser, Polish Association of America. Founder and editor of "Oredownik Jezykowy," 1905-1908. Instrumental in organizing a Polish weekly paper, "Nowiny," 1906; changed publication to a daily, 1907; founded Polish Charitable Association, 1910. His treatise on Polish punctuation pronounced best by European Polish critics. Author of: "Zasady interpunkeji polskiej," 1905; verses; essays; "Bells of Corneville" (tr. from French and produced several times on stage); other translations of drama and poetry; collaborator in Memoirs of Milwaukee County; "Poles in Milwaukee," 1909; contributor to Polish periodicals. In 1921 elevated to the rank of Domestic Prelate. In 1939 elected president of the Alumni Association of Polish Theological Seminary, Orchard Lake, Mich. for Milwaukee District. Decorated with "Polonia Restituta," by Polish Government for his services rendered to Independence of Poland. He is also Knight of St. Gregory. Address: 1414 W.
