Grabowski, Francis
Music director. Born in Michalkowice, Poland, Jan. 16, 1892. Educated in Poland. Completed Institute of Music in Morawska Ostrawa. Attended Military Academy in Szabad, where he studied under the famous bandmaster Julius Fucik. After completion of his course he became a bandmaster of a military band. Upon his arrival in U.S. he became a bandmaster of Noble County Victory Band in Ohio until 1920. He was director of Hamtramck Philharmonic Orchestra from 1920 to 1934. At present he is a director of "The Polonia Symphony of the State of Michigan" sInce 1938. Member: Detroit Federation of Musicians, Local No. 5, Polish National Alliance, Polish Falcons of America, Polish Army Veterans Association, Post 113; Music Teachers Association and Hamtramck Philharmonic Society. General Duch, commanding general of the Polish Army in Canada, appointed him bandmaster of the Polish Army Military Band. Composer of several military marches and few musical selections. Teacher of piano, violin, brass and wind instruments. Residence: 2651 Pulaski St., Hamtramck, Mich.
